𝐔𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐨 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧!
Illegally-sized residential campaign signs, over 4X(!) what is allowed. Booby trapped campaign signs endangering city workers who are empowered to remove signs placed illegally. City commission and committee members engaged in unlawful activities.
These actions further compromise the fairness of our local election process. We are asking you to email the city and express your concerns about these issues; a list of emails is at the bottom.
𝐈𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐒𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥?
A lot of folks ask us about signs. Is that sign legal? How many can you have? How big? We thought we’d take a few minutes to clear that up today.
Chico’s campaign sign ordinance is actually pretty simple. Here is the applicable code if it’s residential…
About the Ugly Display at the Entrance to Bidwell Park
…To knowingly allow signs and tents to be placed in your yard openly mocking the human suffering and outright desperation that forces PEOPLE to shelter in public space during a PANDEMIC is an action that truly shakes me to my core. Have you no humanity left in your soul ? Have you EVER walked across the street to check in on your fellow human beings to see if you could help them in some way?
League of Women Voters: Voter’s Edge Website
The League of Women Voters of Butte County does amazing work to ensure that voting is accessible and understandable to everyone. For California, they have a site called Voters Edge, where you can enter your address and get info on candidates, measures, and who supports them. ..
No on Coolidge - Chico Can’t Afford Another 4 Years

It should be no surprise that with a shady PAC funded by far-right interests, out-of-towners, and developers dumping $220,000 into our local city council election, Andrew Coolidge would be back in the mix.
When Coolidge was elected in 2014, his first motion was to agendize a discussion of Chico Scrap Metal (CSM). We’re going to have to back up a bit to explain why this was so significant…
𝐋𝐞𝐭’𝐬 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐤 𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐏𝐀𝐂𝐬 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝟑
We noted the right-wing PAC and a number of their acolytes expressing concern online and in a recent LTE in the Chico ER about our filings on their respective web pages, and even a reference to “dark” money, which is utterly hilarious coming from a PAC that has brought in over $220,000 (the majority from far-right interests, out-of-towners, and developers/real estate interests).
First, we should note that by law, we didn't have to turn in Form 496 at this time; the requirement to file goes into effect when you spend $1,000 in aggregate supporting or opposing a single candidate or measure….

We have two outstanding candidates that we are thrilled to endorse.
One brings a wealth of experience and even-handed, strong budget guidance, while the other brings crucially important real world teaching experience working with students, parents, teachers and administration.
𝐖𝐞 𝐍𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐩
As we enter the last few weeks until the election, the local right-wing PAC has stepped up their tactics. Whether it's campaign mailers that present outright lies, or seedy placement of their candidate signs in the old Chico Peace and Justice Center location, they are spreading misinformation like wildfire. It certainly helps that the war chest they have amassed from right-wing interests, out-of-towners and developers has exceeded $220,000, more than 4 times the amount raised by any PAC in the last city council election…

As anyone who has every had anything to do with the Chico Peace and Justice Center is well aware, they would never have supported this slate of candidates. In fact, to the best of our knowledge they did not endorse any candidates.
But they did recently move, and the right-wing PAC took advantage of that to place their posters under their sign.
Divisive and low - over and over again. That PAC continues to try to manipluate our election with misinformation and lies, because apparently it isn't enough to have received over $200,000 from right-wing interests, out of towners and developers to buy the Chico City Council election.
Please spread the word - this isn't who we are. Don't let lies stand.
