Judge England has ruled the airport site is not acceptable as it stands. This means the city cannot resume enforcement of itโs anti-homeless ordinances, which violate the civil rights of homeless people.
We hope this will bring the city to the table and force the council to get serious about solutions. Make no mistake, the internment-style camp at the airport is not remotely acceptable and moves vulnerable people further from solutions.
โBecause the ordinances passed by the City Council subject individuals to criminal penalties for โliving outdoorsโ anywhere in the City, the result is that homeless individuals are subject to criminal prosecution no matter where they go within the jurisdiction.โ
