Ballots are out, and it's never been more important than it is now to support these candidates.

They will work for a better Chico for all of us, not just a handful of wealthy developers. Their priorities include better roads, more affordable housing, protecting our parks and waterways, and helping us build a more climate and fire-resilient city, all things we desperately need. The school board candidates will work to ensure that our children get an excellent education and have a level playing field and opportunities to succeed.

Canvassing is the most effective way to reach voters. If you can walk even your own neighborhood for a day, it will be one of the most important ways you can help ensure the right people get elected. We can tell you from experience, it’s also one of the most fun ways to support candidates. It may sound intimidating but when we’ve walked we’ve had almost nothing but good conversations, even with people who have different views. There’s something about the one-on-one that makes people a little more open to conversation.

Another effective way to reach voters is phonebanking. It’s easy and if you feel shy about walking a neighborhood it’s an easy alternative.

Write a letter to the editor: A letter to the editor is a great way to tell the community why you support a candidate. They should be 250 words or less and avoid personal attacks - focus on the issues and what our candidates can do to address them. Submit to the Chico News and Review or to the Chico ER.
