Let the spin begin. Now that a federal judge has forced the Chico City Council to comply with the law, the right-wing PAC is springing into action to attempt to rehabilitate their crew. Of course, what they are saying is again not true…

If you’re even a little sentimental about Chico’s history, it hurt seeing those rock walls along Bruce Road getting scooped up and destroyed like they were rubble. With views of the foothills to the east, the rock walls were the road’s most pleasant feature. It would have been nice to have a bike path running alongside them.
GUARDEDLY OPTIMISTIC - SHELTER SOLUTIONS MAY FINALLY BE COMING
The proposal includes 177 Pallet Shelters. There is a lot to love about these shelters; they are non-congregate, giving people a space with a lockable door to protect their belongings. They include heating and air so people can manage the temperatures inside. They provide people with a modicum of privacy, which can be a major barrier to people being willing to enter congregate shelters. They take around an hour to set up or take down and fold virtually flat.
Amazing people of Chico: Chico DSA Mutual Aid working to ensure no one goes hungry
As soon as the first pandemic lockdowns were announced, they sprang into action, delivering food, medications, picking up mail and just about anything else needed by those who were immune-compromised, elderly or simply in need. They also provided subsidized and/or free food for people who were struggling with food insecurity. That work has continued, and they are out every week to ensure that people who need food in Chico don't go hungry.

In fact, 3 homeless people have been targeted and shot in the past month, and one was killed.
Rather than look for ways to address the issue, Citizens for a Safe Chico sent out a ghoulish, Halloween-ish email update full of misinformation, outright lies and plain old ugliness. Even more alarming, given recent violence against people on the streets, it again blames the victims rather than the city leaders that got us into this mess. 𝐖𝐞'𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐢𝐱 𝐢𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦.
Amazing People of Chico: the Hunger Trolley works to prevent people from going hungry

Working together, and with another Cease and Desist letter, we were able to force the Chico City Council to roll back their illegal action disbanding the Climate Action Commission, and enact the Emergency Shelter Crisis Declaration, which protects the city from liability while sheltering on city-owned properties…

Chico mom is ensuring that people have access to food
“I was shocked at the huge need of food and supplies our unhoused community faced. I was admittedly naïve in thinking people were being adequately provided food in our community.”
